Case Cleaning

We will clean your case in our Better Engineering heated parts washer to get all that grease and grit out.

Everyone knows a clean engine case is the first step in assembling your new engine.  But did you know, prior to machining it is equally critical to have all parts clean and free from grit and grime?  We must ensure that nothing gets in the way of the case halves mating properly or the machined surfaces will not hold their tolerances.

General Cleaning:
This is good for machinging only.  Your case will not be ready for assembly when you get it back.

Assembly Cleaning:
After running your case through the parts washer, we will run barrel brushes through each oil gallery and check them with a bore scope as well.  The case will be ready for final assembly when you get it back.  This requires our Drill and Tap All Oil Galleries service.

The customer is responsible for shipping the case both directions.
Your packing materials must be reusable or we will charge a packing fee.
Your case must not have big chunks of dirt or grime or we will charge a $50 pre-cleaning fee.
This price does not include return shipping.  Actual shipping amount will be charged when your case is returned.

Drill and Tap All Oil Galleries

There is simply no way to get your case clean without removing all the gallery plugs. You would be amazed at how much junk we find in some of the blind corners!

Clearance for Stroker Crank

Cranks larger than 74mm will require machine work on the case to make them fit. The larger the crank, the more work is required to make them fit.

Hoover Mods

The Type 1 based air cooled VW engine has a flawed oil system design that does not allow enough oil to the 1-2 side of the case. The Hoover mods fix this flaw.
