While traveling through Eastern Montana, near the North/South Dakota borders, I entered a very small town of Wibaux, Montana. When I say small, I mean it, im talking around 200 people, if that. Upon entering town, I pass a retired couple sitting in their lawn chairs next to their 1970 transporter painted, as you guessed it, a full on hippie bus.
The bus was originally purchased as a rough transporter and the couple added some camper accessories (windows, z bed, etc.). This bus is a prime example that the VW community is a very small community. After chatting with them for 20 minutes or so, I was invited to swing by their home where they harbor their '59 beelte and Ghia convertible.
Below are a few of the pictures that I took while talking with them. Be sure to read the captions throughout the paint job, they really do have a sense of humor!
The couple now goes around from show to show and has done seemingly well with a win in their class and a mention in Hot VW's magazine!
